AIBA Secretary General István Kovács took part in the 34th Belgrade Marathon, which is held annually in the capital of Serbia. This is a traditional race that has been held since 1988, it attracts thousands of participants. Due to the pandemic, only 1000 athletes took part in this year’s marathon, including Mr. Kovács and his wife.
Mr. Kovács dedicated his half-marathon race to the upcoming World Boxing Championships, which will be held in Belgrade from October 26 to November 6, 2021.
‘I ran in the promotional t-shirt of the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships and on the road we passed our official venue – the Stark Arena. I’m happy to run in honor of the upcoming tournament. I guess my race was way too easier than the one that is waiting for our boxers in October but I am happy to say that I was running for the glory of boxing.’
Mrs. Kovács showed outstanding running skills and won the silver medal of the Marathon.
‘I finished in 1h 35 minutes and Kata, my wife, got the second place with 1h 18minutes. AIBA should not be ashamed,’ Secretary General said.
